Awesome lodge to stop at! Pete is a very fun guy to have a conversation with. They were up late and let us rent a room at 2am when we were too tired to keep driving through the snow in the dark. I'll definitely stop here again!!!
We were very happy with our 3 night stay at Nelchina Lodge and would absolutely stay again. The rooms were clean and the bathroom seemed updated (in good condition and a nice beige color). The kitchenette was very helpful. We had brought our own food because we didn't want to eat out all the time. The owners were very kind and asked us multiple times if we needed anything. The location is between Eureka and Lake Louise, which made snow machining out of these two different places easy. If you are looking for a simple, safe, clean, budget friendly place to stay, run by kind people this is the place. I wish I had known about this lodge sooner. A big thank you to Pete and his family for helping us have a great vacation.
My large family (7 members) and I had been driving all night. We had been searching for a place to stay for the night since 11pm in Anchorage, Palmer, and Wasilla, but everywhere was booked. The owner answered our phone call at 3am and, without hesitation, agreed to offer us accommodations for the night. He was beyond kind and offered us all kind of treats for our road-weary children. The room and bathroom were immaculate. We would certainly recommend this establishment.

We had a great experience at Nelchina Lodge. Pete and his wife Heidi are super friendly and kind and wanted us to have a great experience (we did). And their dog Big Lee is the sweetest black pup who will walk up to you and lean up against you. It’s so endearing. All in all, this place is a no frills motel on the middle of your trip to or from Eastern Alaska (in our case, McCarthy to go glacier hiking), but it’s perfect for what it is and just right to get a nights rest before making that trek. I talked with Pete for several minutes before leaving; he was very helpful giving us recommendations on things to see and I admire his passion for Alaska and life in general. Will stay again on any further trips.
Hi Pete, Greg(George) and Janet here :) If you've traveled Alaska, you will know that the condition of rooms you stay in vary from very poor shape to really good shape. We stayed at Nelchina Lodge for 2 nights in Aug 2022. Pete's rooms, off the highway in remote Alaska are in very good shape, clean, warm. The water is really good. We really enjoyed Pete's friendship and kindness and hospitality. We highly recommend staying at the Nelchina Lodge
